How did it all start?

Over a hundred years ago...

It is 1922 and Rene Caisse is working as a nurse in a hospital in Ontario, Canada. She notices a female patient with a strange scar on her chest and asks her about it. The patient tells her she had had cancer thirty years earlier and had been cured by drinking a herbal tea prepared by an Ojibwa medicine man. Rene asks for the list of herbs and writes down the names.

Years later, she uses this formula to treat her aunt, and it cures her cancer. Rene then decides to dedicate her life to treating as many people as possible with the eight-herb formula. It becomes her life’s mission, and she will fight an uphill battle to gain recognition for the virtues of the herbal formula.
‘People with cancer are often looking for natural methods and products that can help them recover. Others are looking for relief from problems such as fatigue and insomnia, or a way to feel better. This book offers just that.’

The first edition of ‘Healing Herbs of the Ojibwa’ was published in Dutch in 1997. At that time, there was no internet and almost no information about the herbal tea. Detoxification was certainly not the hot topic it is today.

The story got noticed. Those who used the herbal tea wanted to know more. And readers were eager to start using the tea. Translations into English, German, Spanish, Slovenian and Greek soon followed. Over 100,000 copies have been sold.

A French edition has been available since 2025.

After the seventh edition (2025), the book was completely updated to include even more research, new testimonials and the latest discoveries in healthy nutrition and complementary natural medicine.
